Challenge updates

The Shakespearean Summer that never was. So in Lauren's words: FAILED. MISERABLY.

I attempted to read The Taming of the Shrew. Sadly I don't own any Shakespeare besides Romeo & Juliet which I read less than a year ago for school and didn't want to read again. So I tried to read Taming of the Shrew online on Sparknotes- but the internet is too distracting. I got through one page and that is it. Oh so sad.

But better than Lauren, who I don't think did anything.

Sarah Dessen Challenge:

Still the same as before. I got some of my SD books back that I loaned out to other friends though, so hopefully will get to reading them soon!

100+ Reading Challenge

I'm still complete. Not like it's possible to uncomplete a challenge, right? I'm currently at 119 books in, which I think is pretty good! Can't compare it to previous years because I never recorded my books read then, but I feel pretty happy.

Lauren is now 79 books read. Maybe 80, depending on if she's finished Catching Fire by now. :D

I know there's lots of other challenges floating around, RIP, Debut Authors, First in the Series. Not going to entering any of those probably, at least until next year.

Good luck to all who are still doing the challenges. And kudos to people who were actually able to finish A Shakespearean Summer.

Reading Challenges and more update stuff

They always seem to go together. I wonder why?

For the 100+ Book Challenge, to read 100 books in 2009: I just finished it! Wherever Nina Lies is the wonderful book that ended up being my 100. Actually, I had wanted it to be Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen, but somehow I miscounted and it was the book before, making Wherever Nina Lies 100. :P Oh well. I loved WNL so it's fine. I'll still be recording my books and all, because I think it's a great idea, in the right sidebar gadget.

Lauren is still plugging her way through the challenge, but she's more than halfway now, at something like 58, and will no doubt finish the challenge. I mean, it's summer! We've got tons of time.

And the Sarah Dessen Challenge. A mini updated list:

1. Along for the Ride (Lauren AND Alex)

And that's it. :/ Gotta get working on that one. There's always so many library books to read though! Ack.

And on another note, I changed the layout again! I'm really starting to get the hang on the HTML stuff. Not really getting the hang, but I'm learning. And I actually really like it. (I'm a computer geek like that.) There's lots of great tutorials out there, which are so so helpful. I'm going to need to widen the header somehow, since it's at an awkward length. Okay, question: Keep the same banner picture but widen it, or change it to something else entirely?

Sarah Dessen Challenge

We've belatedly decided to join the Sarah Dessen Challenge. :)

Seeing as it's a joint blog with Lauren and I, we're doing a joint challenge. Lauren's a picky reader and will only read some of Sarah Dessen's books, so it's probably up to me to fill in the holes, as per usual. So pretty much, we hope to read all 9 of Sarah Dessen's books between the two of us. Of course, we can both read the same book and it's fine.

1. Along For The Ride (Lauren)
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.

I recently bought some of Sarah Dessen's books, so I am now a proud owner of four. :) I just need to get them back since I've lent them all to different friends... :P The rest I guess we can either buy or simply borrow from the library. I hope to buy them all, so if there's ever a good sale somewhere, that's probably when.
We hope to finish this challenge by the end of 2009. So deadline: beginning of 2010. Must keep that in mind.
The Sarah Dessen Challenge is hosted at Em's Bookshelf. So go over there if you haven't signed up and would like to, because there's still plenty of time.
